Kathleen F. (Fitzsimmons) Hartwell, 92, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 27, 2019. She was the wife of the late Earl L. Hartwell, Jr.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William and Nellie (Moriarty) Fitzsimmons. Kathy or “Kitty” grew up in the Fox Point section of Providence and graduated from Hope High School and CCRI. She was an interviewer for the Federal Census Bureau, then the private sector to eventually running her own interviewing company. She also was employed for many years at the Warwick Beacon.

She leaves behind her daughter, Colleen Landeche and her husband, Robert, her son, Earl L. Hartwell, III and his wife, Edna; grandchildren, Dennis and Megan Cosmo, John and Sherri Smallridge, and four great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late William Fitzsimmons, Marian Chaffee, Helen Daniels, June Renehan. She also leaves over twenty of the most loving nieces and nephews that God put on this earth.

Her funeral will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. From the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Ave., at 9:30. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m.
