Kent Hospital hosts Septemeber series of road races/walks

Kent Hospital is the corporate sponsor for a number of road races/walks taking place this year and next in North Kingstown and Warwick. The events will include the Kent Hospital NK5K, the Kent Hospital Ocean State 5K and a new race that will take place in the fall of 2013 at Kent Hospital.

“We are so pleased to play an active role in the health and wellness of so many people each and every day here at the hospital,” said Kent Hospital CEO Sandra L. Coletta. “It is an honor for Kent Hospital to now be a part of these events that have been well known in the area for years. I think it only makes sense for the hospital to take an active role in the community, encouraging healthy lifestyles, physical fitness, fun and exercise.”

The Kent Hospital NK5K, in its 13th year, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the North Kingstown High School and usually attracts approximately 800 runners and walkers. In addition, a portion of funds raised through this road race will be donated back to the North Kingstown School Department for use in developing the town’s high school sports and school extracurricular activities.

The Kent Hospital Ocean State 5K, in its sixth year, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Goddard Park. It will mark the conclusion of an exciting weekend of race events featuring more than 4,000 runners from schools across New England and beyond. In addition, plans are currently in the works for a third race to round out the Kent Hospital Race Series, which will be held in 2013 and will start and finish at Kent Hospital. Details about that event will be made available next summer.

“It is an honor to welcome Kent Hospital as corporate sponsor for this race series. This will be a great partnership and it will further serve to enhance these established events. Kent’s participation helps raise these events to the next level of success,” race organizer Charles Breagy said in a statement.
