Learn All About It Toys to participate in 3rd Annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day Nov. 10
On Saturday, Nov. 10, Learn All About It Toys will join hundreds of locally owned stores from across the country to celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day.
Learn All About It Toys will be offering a number of free events throughout the day, including a music performance at 10:30 a.m. by Jamie Barrett. Barrett has appeared at the store a number of times and highlighted the event in years past. In addition, there will be an appearance by the North Pole Postman in his only Rhode Island toy store appearance this year. ‘Post’ Mark, as the kids call him, is the elf who works in Santa’s mailroom. He helps Santa go through the thousands of letters he receives each year and will customize Santa’s responses in letters back to your children.
"Neighborhood Toy Store Day is about celebrating the role the local store plays in the community. We are highlighting the expertise your local store has in selecting just the right innovative, exclusive and engaging toy to help your child grow and learn through play," explains Kathleen McHugh, president of the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA).
“We encourage parents and children to explore the selection in our store and consider products that promote the growth and development of their child’s play, imagination and learning. Our recommendations center around what the child can do with the toy, rather than what the toy does for the child,” added Jen Dronzek, who co-owns the store and is also a licensed speech-language pathologist.
And consumers can be confident that more of the dollars spent in local independently owned stores stay in the community – 25 percent more in contrast with national chains, according to the 3/50 Project. Resident business owners pour more money and energy back into the community in the form of everything from tax dollars to charity donations to participating in local initiatives and events.
McHugh urged shoppers to take this opportunity to be part of a celebration of community and to get to know their neighborhood toy store: “I’m confident they will discover a universe of play possibilities, right in their own neighborhood.”
