What would you do to get ahead at work? Would you keep secrets? Or go as far as creating a new identity and running an elaborate con? And what would you do when everything breaks down? See four films about desperate characters jumping through ridiculous hoops to advance their careers on consecutive Thursdays starting April 18 at 7 p.m. at the Warwick Public Library. The fun begins with Some Like It Hot (1959), starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon. When two musicians witness a mob hit, they disguise themselves as women and join an all-girl band. On April 25, sit back for The Apartment (1960), starring Shirley MacLaine, Jack Lemmon and Fred MacMurray. An office worker tries to get a promotion by letting executives use his apartment for romantic rendezvous. On May 2, enjoy Tootsie (1982), starring Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange and Teri Garr. An unemployed actor with a bad reputation masquerades as a woman to land a part on a hospital soap opera. On May 9, come for Working Girl (1988), starring Melanie Griffith, Sigourney Weaver and Harrison Ford. When an executive steals a secretary’s idea, the secretary steals it back by pretending to be the executive. For more information, call 739-5440, x9758. The library is located at 600 Sandy Lane. This event is free and open to all.
