Library March events include Irish step dancing, concert, tips on gardening


March is packed with fun and educational activities from movies and Irish dancing to tips on gardening for children and adults at Warwick Public Library.

All ages can join Ann Corvin and an adoptable pet from the Warwick Animal Shelter for a presentation on caring for our pets. Learn basic cat and dog care and hear how the Warwick Animal Shelter helps homeless animals on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.

Then on Sunday, March 11, the Proteus String Quartet, the dazzling chamber group from Rhode Island College, will perform at 2 p.m.

The Tuesday Morning Film Discussion Group will present the costume drama “Drums Along the Mohawk” (1939), starring Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. Bring a lunch, and join in a casual, after-movie discussion.

URI Master Gardeners Lee Menard and Gail Tatangelo will teach tips and techniques on how to grow better vegetables, flowers and plants. Learn about vegetable gardening on Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. Find out about perennials on March 28.

Everyone can celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a performance of traditional and modern Irish dance by Warwick’s Damhsa Irish Dance Studio on Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m.

Children and their families will be thrilled and amazed by the latest version of “Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope” on Blu-ray in high definition on Thursday, March 29 at 6 p.m.

Enjoy amazing deals on over 6,000 books and DVDs at The Friends of the Library Book Sale on Friday, March 23 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday, March 25 from 1 to 4 p.m.
