Louis Porretta

Louis Porretta, 91, a resident of Warwick for over 50 years, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017. He was the loving husband of the late Margaret V. (Dressler) Porretta for 52 years.

He was a son of the late Cesare and Rosina (Ciccarone) Porretta. Louis was born and raised in the Federal Hill section of Providence, where his father owned and operated a bakery and pizza restaurant. He served as a Corporal with the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II. Louis graduated from Roger Williams University with an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Electric Boat as a draftsman for 21 years, before retiring. Louis was a faithful communicant of Ss. Rose & Clement Parish, member of the Men of St. Joseph, and the YMCA.

Besides his wife, he is survived his sister-in-law, Teresa Porretta, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Julio Porretta.

His funeral was held Monday, May 15, 2017, from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clement Church, Long St. Burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours, Monday.
