Maria Del Gizzo “tootsie”, 94, of Warwick, RI passed away peacefully Sunday April 22. She was the first born to the late Nicholas Rini and Concetta Rini and adored by her two late brothers Johnny and Anthony Rini. Maria grew up in Providence and was married to the late Ugo Gabriel Del Gizzo and raised three children together. She was mother to Stephen Del Gizzo & partner Glen Dombrow, Robin Del Gizzo Monahan and late husband David Monahan, and the late Ernest Del Gizzo. Mother in-law to Elizabeth. She was known as “Gram” to her beloved grandchildren – Lisa Del Gizzo Blais & husband Robert Blais, Ernie Del Gizzo Jr. & wife Judy, Stephanie Monahan and Christina Monahan, and four great grandchildren – Mackenzie Blais, and Austin Blais, and Alexis Del Gizzo and Eric Del Gizzo, who were all very close to her heart.
Maria resided in Norwood for most of her life, where she was employed at Suburban Pharmacy for many years. Her kitchen table was always a place to gather, eat, and celebrate holidays. Her favorite pastimes included cooking for her friends and family, playing cards, and trips to the casino. Maria was an active member in ITAM (Italian American Veterans) and volunteered for causes such as Meeting Street School and House of Hope. Many blessings and sweet dreams Maria.
Visitation will be Friday morning, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Pontiac Ave, Cranston, followed by Committal Prayers at R.I. Veterans Cemetery in Exeter at 11 a.m. Please share memories at Woodlawngattone.com
