Mary J. “Janet” (Quinn) Trant, of Portsmouth, N.H., a retired registered nurse, died February 7, 2012. She was the wife of the late William Trant.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Corinne M. (Clark) Quinn. Janet was a graduate of Elmhurst Academy, Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and Boston University School of Nursing, where she received her BA in science and nursing. She served as a nurse in WWII and was employed by the Providence School Department and the Lexington, Mass. School Department. She was an alumni of Elmhurst Academy, RI School of Nursing and the American Association of University Women.

She is survived by two nieces, Patricia Quinn Carroll and Cathleen Quinn; two nephews, Mark Quinn and Robert Quinn; a great-niece, three great nephews and two great-great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Thomas J. Quinn and Robert J. Quinn.

Her funeral will be held Feb. 14 at 8:30 a.m. from Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in The Church of the Holy Name (Lady Chapel), Camp St., Providence, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
