Mary Leah ( McDermott) Cunningham, 79, of Cedar Pond Dr., Warwick, passed away peacefully in Coventry on November 15, 2017. She was the loving wife of Lawrence D. Cunningham for 53 years.

Born in the Fox Point section of Providence, the daughter of the late John F. and Irma A. (Ring) McDermott, Mary lived most of her life in the Edgewood section of Cranston with Larry and her five children. She was a long-time employee of the Social Security Administration before her retirement in December of 1999. Mary will be remembered for her love of her family, her strong will and her love of laughter.

Mary is survived by her children: Michael and his wife, Lauren, John and his wife Jamie, David and his wife Jennifer, Tricia Bouchard and her husband Marc, and Charles and his wife Sandy. Mary was the grandmother of Jaclyn, Kevin, Jack, Bailey, Clare, Josie, Katie, Erin, Maya, Miranda, and Westin. She leaves five nephews and one niece, and many grand nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with her dear friends Nancy and Claire, Michaela, Sheila, and Claire "Creesh" Cretian, as well as the "girls" she played cards with regularly.

She was predeceased by siblings Helen "Nen" McDermott, and Fr. Charles "Charlie" McDermott. Mary was a proud member of NARFE.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov 21, 2017, at 8:45 a.m. from The Urquhart - Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 3250 Post Road, Warwick, burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
