Mayor Solomon to join SONIC owner Chris Stack for grand opening celebration

Posted

Mayor Joseph J. Solomon will join Chris Stack, owner of the first SONIC drive-in restaurant franchise location in Warwick,

employees and customers for a grand opening celebration/ribbon cutting on Friday at 2 p.m. The restaurant is located at 1134 Bald Hill Road (Route 2).

“The SONIC brand has been in existence throughout the United States for 65 years,” Solomon said in a release. “We are pleased to welcome Chris and his team to Warwick, and I thank Chris for his investment in our community. This development has transformed a property that’s been vacant for several years into a vibrant new business that’s bringing new jobs to our community. I’m thrilled to help SONIC celebrate their grand opening and wish them tremendous success here.”

In addition to construction jobs, this SONIC location is projected to create 50 permanent full- and part-time jobs. The retro-style restaurant chain will feature indoor seating for 60, a patio area to accommodate four tables and 14 stalls for customers to park and order food delivered by “car hops” on skates. SONIC has become known for its burgers and shakes. Its menu also includes snacks and side, a variety of chicken sandwiches and hot dogs, breakfast food, kids’ meals and ice cream.

SONIC can trace its roots back to 1953 Shawnee, Oklahoma, where a small root beer stand called Top Hat was in operation. Six years later, after the successful operation of several Top Hat locations, its owners, Troy Smith and Charles Pappe, named the restaurant chain SONIC, in keeping with their slogan, “Service at the Speed of Sound.”

There are now more than 3,500 SONIC restaurants throughout 44 states. The first Rhode Island location opened in northern Rhode Island three years ago. In addition to the Warwick location, Stack owns and operates a SONIC in Massachusetts.

The two-time election reject continues his unhealthy obsession with the former mayor -- and again makes statements that are blatantly false:

"Mayor that actually shows up at grand openings."

Here's one that former Mayor Avedisian attended at an assisted living facility from October, 2017: http://warwickonline.com/stories/family-run-care-business-opens-68-unit-assisted-living-facility,128348

Here's one from Proclamation Brewery from November 2017, after it moved from South Kingstown: http://warwickonline.com/stories/things-are-brewin-at-city-centre,129812

Here's one about Koch Eye opening a new location, also in October, 2017: http://warwickonline.com/stories/with-vision-of-continued-success-koch-eye-opens-new-office,128453?

Here's one from Fine Time Watch in October, 2016: http://warwickonline.com/stories/fine-time-for-a-grand-opening,118961?

Here's one from Open Season in March, 2016: http://warwickonline.com/stories/he-went-for-the-sliders,110599?

That's just a sample, but it clearly shows that the two-time election reject is lying when he suggests that former Mayor Avedisian didn't show up to ribbon cuttings and business openings.

Try as he might, the two-time election reject will not rewrite history or distort the facts, and honest, taxpaying voters will enjoy their winter holidays, happy in the knowledge that we kept him far away from elective office.

As usual Corrente's a LYING AGAIN. And true to form, LYING about something in a way so easily disproved as you have shown CR! What is the MATTER with this crazy old coot anyway?

I remember Avedisian as a Mayor who showed up to things. Due to my "position", I was at many of them. I always admired Scott Avedisian's engagement with happenings around his city.

And, as if that never happened, and as if it wasnt in the news most times, this nut tries to say he didnt show up at openings. Wow.

What is that letter called that can be signed by two responsible adults to get someone brought in for 30 days of psych eval? Corrente needs that in the worst way... and hopefully before he spots me now that he knows my real name!

As to Sonic, cool new addition to Warwick... we truly are spoiled with so many places to go within such a short distance. Now we have one more choice!

This just shows how well The Solomon Plan works for our city...

WwkVoter, I have often wondered the same thing about the two-time election reject; to paraphrase Gunnery Sgt. Hartman, what is his major malfunction?

Going by the willing and repeated behavior he's shown on this site, he's simply desperate for attention -- any attention -- and considers negative attention [like all of the times that factual information has been presented to disprove his statements] to be a good thing.

I'm sure you'd agree that this is not something that a reasonable, mature, or logical candidate would believe.

He has also stated repeatedly that he thinks running for office and giving himself a made-up title somehow makes his statements more credible.

Of course, he's wrong about this, too. He's used his make-believe title and two overwhelming and humiliating election losses to justify blatant lying, juvenile name-calling, and delusional conspiracy theories.

These are not things that a serious, mature, or logical candidate would do if they wanted to be considered credible.

But again, since the two-time election reject wants attention by any means possible he apparently doesn't care that most of it has been to thoroughly and factually disprove nearly everything he's ever written on this website.

You and I and thousands of our honest, taxpaying neighbors know better -- despite what the two-time election reject seems to think.

And, despite his attempts to ignore or twist the facts, we and our neighbors told him clearly -- twice -- that we do not want him anywhere near elective office, and I am sure we will celebrate our winter holidays, happy in the knowledge that we succeeded.

Dear CrickeeRaven (AKA Mark Caruollo) and WwkVoter,

I gave my honest opinion. If that bothers your fragile sensitivities in any way, shape or form...GOOD!

From my experience, and I have had a lot of it in the last few years, Avedisian was poor at grand openings. I went to many that he was a no-show for, even though the host/hostess was expecting him. Also, he went on vacation...a lot! There was one 12 month period when he went on vacation 14 times. It's hard to attend a grand opening when you're in Key West...again. Don't you agree?

My comment was to complement Mayor Solomon on his increased attention to businesses. If you don't like that, it's just too damn bad!

    Merry Christmas everyone.

Is it hard to learn the knack for complimenting one at the expense of another? Asking for friend.

Cat, by now we know that the two-time election reject puts very little effort or thought into his comments -- and then pretends he said something different when called on it.

And, of course, he compounds his already-defective statement with a lie: "here was one 12 month period when he went on vacation 14 times."

It has already been explained to the two-time election reject that of those 14 trips, many of them were representing Warwick on business development visits to places like Ireland, and representing Rhode Island in the national mayor's conference.

He has also not called the former Warwick chief of staff to test his false accusation that he uses this screen name.

These were not "vacations," and despite his efforts, the two-time election reject fails to do anything but prove his unhealthy obsession with the former chief of staff and the former mayor who so soundly defeated him in 2016 that the two-time election reject has no other recourse but this juvenile behavior.

Vast majorities of honest, taxpaying voters did not like the two-time election reject's candidate, and as a result he remains the only candidate to lose to two mayors from different parties in the city's recent history,

We will all enjoy our winter holidays, happy to know that we were 100% correct in those decisions.

Honest, taxpaying, intelligent readers hardly need my help to point out the glaring and obvious defects in the two-time election reject's latest debacle of a comment.

But I will provide an excerpt that perfectly illustrates how poor his restraint is in humiliating himself:

"He's right of course, I haven't (called Mark Carruolo). Hey, wait a minute. How would CrickeeRaven POSSIBLY know..."

[Because the two-time election reject admitted it, one sentence earlier.]

He thus, once again, proves himself as defective in his behavior now as he did during his two failed campaigns.

We, the honest, taxpaying voters, will certainly have happy winter holidays knowing we kept him far away from office due to this exact kind of foolish behavior.

crazy corrente new tactic - double posting his crazy ramblings. wow please corrente, just go away. corrente you will never be more than an annoying Beacon commenter, constantlyrepeating easily disproven lies. Nothing more. You will NEVER be mayor of anything.

    Speaking of compliments.

As to CR, I am so impressed with them that I wish they would run for mayor of Warwick, if Joe ever retires, would have my vote in one second! a clear, concise thinker and communicator, backed by facts clearly and concisely sourced, and referenced. honest, and knowledgeable about public policymaking. thank you so much CR for adding value to these articles.

There is a class of people who just belong in the public sector and places like the mayor suite. And there are people who are in a class that belongs, you know, someplace else...

Thank you, WwkVoter, for your kind compliments. While I am not a public sector employee in Warwick or anywhere else, I do appreciate your assessment that I would be suitable for such service.

I also share your assessment of the double election loser, particularly his capacity to attempt new ways to bring more (negative) attention to himself.

As you know, he has previously demanded that people call or visit him in his office for "proof" that only he can access and somehow disproves the volumes of public and readily available information about him -- and now he is demanding that someone he has falsely and intentionally accused of crimes, with clear intent to damage his reputation, and labelled with all manner of crude names, should answer to him.

I'm sure you see the defect in this thought process.

I am also sure that you recall his many claims of being accountable and having proof to support his comments -- and here he is, a phone call away from testing his theory about who uses a screen name on a website, and instead of being accountable and gathering proof, he simply maintains his apparently limitless capacity to humiliate himself.

And amid all of it, he claims not to give a damn. But that's quite a lot of effort made to not care about something.

The theories, the double-speak, the admission that's an accusation -- seriously, that's a lot of work.

Thanks again for your kind words.
