Mayor Joseph J. Solomon visited Barnum Financial at 200 Crossings Boulevard on Tuesday – the next stop in his weekly One-on-One business program.

The company, founded in Bridgeport, Connecticut 68 years ago, now boasts more than 30 offices in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. They offer a variety of financial and wealth management services, including financial planning, retirement planning, investments, education, business, estate, tax and special care planning as well as risk management.

Barnum has had a Warwick presence since 2010 and presently has more than two dozen employees, including support staff.

“It was a pleasure to meet Jake, Sue Ann and the rest of the Barnum team,” Solomon said. “I’m glad they are realizing continued success in Warwick. We are fortunate to have companies like theirs in our City that not only take pride in their work, but are committed to giving back in the communities they serve.”

In Rhode Island, its offices have supported a number of charitable causes and organizations, including the annual Bowl-a-Thon, which raises funds for Foundation for Life, in support of Bikes for Kids, the Kaboom Playground Build and other local charities. They also take part in events for Best Buddies, the Personal Lifetime Advocacy Networks of Rhode Island, and have participated in toy drives for Toys for Tots and have volunteered to serve meals at St. Anthony’s Parish. In addition, Jake’s team has a strong passion for financial literacy, serving all our state universities and colleges with workshops offered on campus monthly. Nationwide, they have over 250,000 clients, providing their services to individuals and their families, small businesses, government agencies, corporations and non-profits. The firm has won numerous awards, including being voted one of the Best Places to Work in Rhode Island in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016 by the Providence Business News in conjunction with Best Companies Group. They are a three-time “Management Triskelion” Award Winner, four-time industry “Firm of the Year winner, and eight-time MetLife “Firm of the Year” award winner while at MetLife.

Since being sworn in as Mayor in May, Solomon has made the business community a priority. The “One-on-One” program is meant to afford the Mayor the opportunity to further his ongoing efforts to hear businesses’ concerns directly and ensure that companies and their employees have the necessary resources to succeed.
