McCrudden’s Radiator Repair Repairing your vehicles since 1959

Posted

The year was 1959 when lifelong Rhode Islander Jim McCrudden saw an opportunity in a humble, single-story building on West Shore Road.  The building was home to the Atlantic Richfield gas station ~ and future home to what would become one of the most enduring landmarks in Warwick, McCrudden’s Radiator Repair.

Jim McCrudden bought and then operated the gas station until gradually, the radiator repair business was born.  Over time, the building was expanded, and a second floor was added, giving it the gambrel roof that makes it a recognizable sight in the city to this day. As the repair business became more established, Jim’s son Kevin became a regular presence at the shop.  As a fourteen-year old boy, Kevin took on small, odd jobs around the shop ~ sweeping the floors, keeping the place tidy, learning the “tricks of the trade”.

Today, McCrudden’s Radiator Repair is a bustling repair shop that is owned and operated by Kevin McCrudden.  The shop has earned its reputation as a place of quality workmanship and the traditional values of hard work, honesty and integrity that have survived the test of time. Kevin has carried forward his father’s work ethic. He remains a steady voice in the community and a devoted small business owner whose family has given back to the city of Warwick since those first days in 1959.

This year, McCrudden’s Radiator Repair shop celebrates its 60th year!  That is ten years “older” that two other Warwick “icons”, John Howell at the Beacon and Dave’s Market (both of which marked 50 impressive years in 2019!)  The McCrudden family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the many customers who have brought their cars, trucks and even boats to the repair shop for six decades!

Those customers have returned time and time again because they know what they can expect from Kevin ~ he is a true expert who will give you an honest assessment of your vehicle’s problem and then will work hard until he has fixed that problem.  It’s a simple formula for success and longevity:  consistency, hard work, skill and dedication.

Kevin McCrudden is not only a talented technician, he is also a metal sculptor who forges original and timeless metal artwork. Come to the shop to see some of his exceptional work. He is a true artist who is even a chainsaw wood carver!  If you have ever seen the large moose in the shop’s yard, you have seen what he can do with a block of wood and a chainsaw!  Finally, Kevin is also a passionate hockey player; in fact, McCrudden’s Radiator Repair was the first to sponsor a hockey team in Warwick, way back when the league had only six teams!

McCrudden’s Radiator Repair, on 835 West Shore Road is still going strong after 60 years. Call 401-738-2550 for your appointment and to wish Kevin another few decades of success!
