Medicaid, community action program topics of OSCIL free workshops

The Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) will host a free Lunch & Learn Workshop Wednesday, February 27 from 12-2 p.m. at its offices at 1944 Warwick Avenue in Warwick. The topic will be “Medicaid Matters in Rhode Island.” It will cover the following subjects: How can Medicaid benefit you and other Rhode Island residents?

Guest speakers are Linda Katz, of the Economic Progress Institute and Ray Gagne and Marjorie Waters of the Rhode Island Organizing Project (RIOP).

On Thursday, February 28 from 12-2 p.m. at its Pawtucket location at 175 Main Street the topic will be Blackstone Valley Community Action’s Programs and Services. Laura-Jean Ferranti of BVCAP will share a general overview of the many social services and programs offered at BVCAP both locally and statewide. There will be an opportunity to ask questions or take referrals for programs at the end of the workshop. Bring your questions.

As part of OSCIL’s mission to provide outreach, education and opportunities for peer support, OSCIL offers these free Lunch and Learn workshops highlighting various solutions that can increase access in your home and community.

Advance registration is required; ccall 738-1013 or send an email to heather.schey@oscil.org if you plan to attend. Seating is limited. Lunch (pizza) will be served.

A sign language interpreter will be available at both locations and CART services will be available at the Warwick workshop.
