The Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America (NCBSA) has announced that Michael E. Brown of West Warwick has been promoted to Assistant Director of Support Services. In this role, Brown will continue to support summer camps at Camps Norse and Camp Cachalot and will also oversee the council’s various program committees consisting of staff members and volunteers.

“Mike has played a huge role in making the Boy Scout experience memorable for our community,” NCBSA Scout Executive/CEO Tim McCandless said in a statement. “I am very pleased to announce this well-deserved promotion. Mike has been a key member of the Narragansett Council team for 12 years, and we are thrilled to have him take on even more responsibility.”

Brown first joined the Narragansett Council in 2005 and was soon promoted to district director, participating as a member of the management team and providing input on decisions regarding council operations. Brown’s leadership skills earned him a promotion to program director in 2010, where he provided leadership to the council’s summer camp programs.

Brown began his scouting career in 2002 as a district executive in the Yankee Clipper Council in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He is an Eagle Scout from Troop 2 Artic, attended Camp Yawgoog for several years, and also served on the Medicine Bow Staff. He directed summer camps from 1998 to 2000.

“Mike has a long history with the Boy Scouts, and his passion for the organization is quite clear. We are lucky to have this devoted leader on our team,” added McCandless.
