Warriors, Canes shine at states

The RIPCOA Cross Country State Championships were held on Sunday afternoon at East Greenwich, and many local runner made the trip and had success in the event. Here is a recap of some of the local scores from the day: BOYS

The Winman boys team finished 11th overall while Veterans took 13th.

Josh Maynard led Warwick Schools with a 16th-place finish for Winman, followed by John Maynard in 33rd. Liam Holmes led Veterans with a 48th-place outing, while teammate Jack McConnell took 66th.

Mikhail Hulkow finished 78th for the Hurricanes, while Jamie Luna placed 81st for Winman. Winman’s Trevor DiPanni took 93rd, followed by Vets’ Tyler Boudreau in 94th.

Jordan Lopes took 106th for the Hurricanes, followed by teammate Aidan Krum in 157th. Winman’s Andrew Mullaney took 163rd, followed by teammate Ryan Brady in 166th. Luke Brodeur took home a 208th-place finish for the Warriors. GIRLS

Veterans finished in 12th place as a team.

Keaney Bayha led Warwick runners with a 20th-place finish for the Hurricanes, while teammate Holly Cameron took 57th. Marissa Rayhill led Winman by placing 69th overall.

Rounding out the top 100 for Warwick schools was Vets’ Marin Prest in 90th and teammate Taylor Tatarian in 96th.

Kasey Pettis finished 102nd for Winman, followed by Vets’ Savannah Pacheco in 111th. Winman’s Faith Daggett took 128th, followed by teammate Aria Ford in 160th. Vets’ Destiny Mitchell finished 185th, followed by teammate Tiffany Blanco in 203rd.
