Mildred “Millie” (Gallo) Gifford

Mildred “Millie” (Gallo) Gifford, 96, died peacefully on August 31, 2019. She is predeceased by her husband, George Gifford, and her later companion, John Blangiardo.

Born in Fall River, Mass., she later resided in Brooklyn, New York, and Warwick. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Virginia (Mazzulla) Gallo. Aside from her family, Millie loved to play cards with her many friends at Sparrows Point, day trips to the casino, scratch tickets, bingo and her beloved New York Yankees. She was known far-and-wide for her famous cheesecake. She will be greatly missed.

She was the sister of Richard Gallo of Brunswick, Gerogia, the late Paul Gallo, the late Peter Gallo and the late Lawrence Gallo, as well as two sons, Wayne Gifford, and Edward Gifford. She is survived by her son, George Gifford of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and daughter Virginia Gifford of Cranston. She also leaves a foster daughter, June Caglianone of Melbourne, Fla. She was the grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of 12, as well as an aunt to several nieces and nephews and a loving mother-in law and grandmother-in-law. She will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 6 from 5-8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave, Cranston, with a mass on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great, 360 Cowesett Road. Burial will be private.
