More than 350 dogs needing homes at ‘Super Adoption Day’

Always Adopt, a not-for-profit organization that brings together community leaders, dog adoption agencies and volunteers to host “super-sized dog” adoption events, will hold its 10th “Super Dog Adoption Day” this Sunday, June 4 at Balise Toyota.

Always Adopt has “refined” the dog adoption process by utilizing their signature online “common app,” which allows pre-approved adopters to have the “pick of the pups” at all their events. The app, available online at AlwaysAdopt.com, allows potential adopters to be screened and approved prior to the event. The first few hours of the event are open to approved adopters who can choose their new family member prior to the admittance of the general public. Potential adopters may also begin the adoption process the day of the event by just stopping and engaging with their selected dog’s adoption agency. All adopters must be approved for adoption before they are permitted to walk away with a dog on the day of the event.

“For the first time since the event’s inception a few years ago, we were in fear of running out of adoptable pups before the close of the event because so many adopters took advantage of the pre-approval process,” noted Louise Anderson Nicolosi, founder of Always Adopt.

More than 2,500 dogs have been adopted via Always Adopt events since May of 2013. Always Adopt partners with a number of qualified dog shelters and rescue agencies located in southern New England to match as many adoptable dogs and qualified adopters at their one-day super adoption events.

The Super Dog Adoption Day is free and open to the public with the exception of each agency’s adoption donation, which directly benefits the adopting agency. Pre-approved adopters can enter from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and general public later in the day from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at Balise Toyota, 1400 Post Road in Warwick. Nicolosi said Always Adopt is expecting more than 2,000 people to attend and will have more than 350 dogs and puppies up for adoption.

Always Adopt encourages prospective adopters to visit AlwaysAdopt.com to see all animals available for adoption and complete the adoption process if they desire to bring their newest family member home that day. Applicants are required to complete the common application found at AlwaysAdopt.com. Please read all the information provided on the website and note that pre-approval does not guarantee adoption on the day of the event.
