Motorcycle run this Sunday to benefit local girl’s treatment

The Kayla Gilbert Foundation will host their fourth annual Motorcycle Run this Sunday, Aug. 4, at Dan’s Place at 880 Victory Highway in West Greenwich. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and kick stands up at 11 a.m.

There is a $25 donation per participant. The event also includes a steak fry, live music from Zink Alloy and raffles.

All proceeds from the event will go to The Kayla Gilbert Foundation to provide treatment and medications for 26-year-old Warwick native Kayla Gilbert, who currently resides in North Carolina, recovering from a double living donor transplant she received in January. Gilbert is being treated and monitored at Duke University Medical Center.

“Even if you don’t have a motorcycle, come and enjoy the fun,” said Karen Boschetti, Gilbert’s mother.

A rain date is scheduled for Aug. 11.

Gilbert was the subject of a May 14 Beacon article entitled “Resident needs support after life-saving lung transplant.”
