Warwick Police have identified the victims in what is being described as a murder/suicide that was reported Saturday morning shortly after 8:30 at 128 Fern Street. Both the victim and the suspect were residents of the single-family Fern Street home.

Donna Dutton, aged 54, who was located in the kitchen, was identified as the victim.

Joseph E. Schlink, aged 58, who was identified as the suspect, was found in the living area of the residence. According to the report released Monday, both died of a single gunshot wound. A .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle was recovered on scene.

From the initial investigation, police say they determined that Dutton and Schlink were roommates of the Fern Street address, with Dutton moving into the home approximately one month ago. At the time of this incident, there were no other occupants or residents.

In a release issued on Saturday, police said the reporting party, who was not identified, told the responding officers that he observed an unresponsive female inside the home. He indicated that the residents of the address were known to him.

The investigation is ongoing reported Captain Jamie M. Calise, Detective Division Commander.
