New England Institute of Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI).  BTVI students will primarily be enrolled in NEIT’s Associate in Science and Bachelor of Science Degree programs in Information Technology, Marine Technology and Health Sciences.  

“These are very important sectors in the Bahamian economy and globally and working with NEIT will afford more opportunities for our students and faculty,” said BTVI President Dr. Robert Robertson in a statement. “Specifically, the partnership will promote student and faculty exchanges, joint faculty research, linked virtual classes and will include scholarships for BTVI students to attend NEIT to complete associate and bachelor degree programs.”     

BTVI is the premier technical and vocational institute in the Bahamas training more than 1,600 students at campus locations in Nassau, Abaco, and Freeport. In addition, BTVI has launched online courses and programs to service the family islands and others in need of flexible training and certification.

Dr. Douglas H. Sherman, Senior Vice President and Provost at NEIT said in a statement, “We are excited to announce our partnership with BTVI, and this Memorandum of Understanding has been developed to formally solidify our relationship. New England Tech’s highly acclaimed and accredited programs, taught with extensive hands-on laboratory experiences, will prepare BTVI students to return to their country with the skills and knowledge needed to have an immediate, positive impact on their respective communities. New England Tech will benefit as well. The influx of bright, young international students will most certainly enrich the classroom experience and our campus environment.”
