New certification


Joseph Spinale, MD, DO, FACC, FASNC, chief medical officer at Kent Hospital, was recently recognized as a Certified Physician Executive by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management (CCMM). The CCMM recently awarded Spinale the status of Certified Physician Executive for educational achievements, demonstrated stature as a physician and experience in the field of medical management. The CPE designation indicates that a physician has achieved superior levels of professional excellence and management education, while also demonstrating effective knowledge and leadership skills. Spinale has worked at Kent Hospital since 1997 and was appointed chief medical officer in September 2012. He also serves as director of medical education at Kent and is regional assistant dean for the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of New England. (Submitted photo)
