New T.F. Green Fire Chief selected

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) has announced William Greenwood of Keene, N.H. has been selected as the fire chief of the T.F. Green Airport Fire Department. Greenwood's extensive background includes 26 years of firefighting experience protecting both commercial airports and municipal populations.

“Mr. Greenwood’s vast experience will be a welcome addition at RIAC and we are pleased he has agreed to lead this vital public safety component at the airport,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation.

Greenwood is coming from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, located in Manchester, N.H., where he served for 24 years with the past 12 years as assistant fire chief.

His responsibilities included coordinating fire ground operations, firefighter training and development and overseeing FBO inspections. Concurrently, he also served as a lieutenant with the City of Keene Fire Department for 22 years. The Keene Fire Department responded to approximately 5,000 emergencies annually. He began his firefighting career serving for two years as a volunteer firefighter.

As fire chief, Greenwood will be responsible for the overall supervision and administration of the airport’s fire department. He will establish and implement departmental policy, be directly responsible for the administration and enforcement of federal aviation regulations and oversee the emergency response operation of the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Services at RIAC.
