Nicholas Richard Ranone

Nicholas Richard Ranone, Major, USAF, Ret., was born May 10, 1936, in Providence, RI. He earned his degree in Engineering from URI. In 1956, he joined the Air Force Pilot Training Program, received his wings, and flew the F-102 in Vietnam. He retired in Panama City, FL (Tyndall AFB) in January 1977. After retirement, Nick worked in the auto parts industry before changing careers into Real Estate with the Bay County Board of Realtors MLS. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dedalians, Quiet Birdmen, Military Officers Association of America, and the DAV. We will never forget Nick’s love of sharing great food and wine with his friends and family, and his embrace of la dolce vita. A proud member of the greatest generation, his legacy will live long after the final bugle note fades.

Nick was predeceased by his parents, Angelina DiMaria and Pasquale Ranone; brother, Bob Ranone; and first wife, Alma Trotto. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hoskins Ranone; their combined children, James Ranone (Dana); Nicholas Ranone, Jr. (Wendy); Kathryn Herring (Jim); Robin Newberry (Gregory); Debra Anthony (Rick); Tara Stamps (Clint); Troy Hoskins (Toni); sister-in-law, Sue Ranone; and 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A Requiem Mass will begin at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mike Theobald officiating. Full military honors offered by the USAF Honor Guard will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. with Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m.
