Toll Gate alumna Jamie Hopgood and Hendricken product Dylan McSparren recently concluded their seasons by being named to their respective all-conference teams after campaigns in which they were on-field leaders for their squads.

Hopgood was selected to the Commonwealth Coast Conference’s first team on the strength of a fine senior season at the plate for an Endicott team that won its first conference title in five years.

Starting all 40 games for the Gulls, the ex-Titan hit .305 for the spring while leading the club with eight home runs and 41 runs driven in, reaching career highs in the two latter categories.

Half of Hopgood’s dingers came during a six-game stretch from April 19 to May 3 in which she knocked in 14 RBI’s and also managed to score at least one run in each contest.

Her collegiate career reached the end as Endicott was eliminated from the Division III NCAA tournament courtesy of an 8-2 defeat by Kean, who picked up their second victory over the Gulls in as many days after claiming a 2-0 shutout on Friday.

Unfortunately for Hopgood, her bat turned ice-cold during Endicott’s three-game sojourn on the national stage as she went 0-for-3 in each contest while only managing to get on base once, accepting a base on balls in the second game versus Kean.

Former Hawk McSparren wrapped up his sophomore campaign on the Rivier lacrosse team as the leading attacking option for the Raiders, earning a berth on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s third team.

He fired home a team-high 47 goals while also topping the squad with assists on 26 further tallies, managing to get his name on the scoresheet in all 16 games for Rivier this spring.

McSparren notched a season-high of six in a 15-10 upending of Regis on April 23 that was historic for the Raider lacrosse program, with their triumph over the Royals clinching a home quarterfinal in the GNAC tournament for the first time.

Rivier would go on to defeat Anna Maria 15-5 before falling to top-seeded Lasell in the semifinals 17-10 to bring their season to an end with a new program-best 12-4 overall record on the campaign.

Pilgrim graduate Jessica Ginaitt was starting goaltender by default this spring as the only netminder listed on the Curry roster, but proved more than capable of doing the job for the Colonels.

The former Patriot posted a winning record between the pipes in her freshman campaign, going 10-8 while recording 165 saves, picking up 24 ground balls and causing four turnovers.

Ginaitt recorded double-digit saves in ten contests this season, including 14 against Wooster and 15 in Curry’s season finale, a 25-12 defeat to Western New England in the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament.

Those efforts were in contrast to her collegiate debut on March 6 against Dean, where she only had to make a single save as the Colonels routed the Bulldogs 21-0 while also outshooting the opposition by a 47-1 margin.
