OneJet service from Pittsburgh expanding to include Green, Nashville

Another airline will commence service from Green Airport, the Rhode Island Airport Corporation disclosed in a release issued Wednesday.

OneJet (www.onejet.com), the air transportation network that provides increased access to nonstop travel in small and medium size markets, will start two new routes from Pittsburgh International, with twice daily nonstop service debuting to Nashville beginning July 12 and service to Green Airport beginning August 23 (subject to customary Department of Transportation approval). The flights will offer additional convenience and options for travelers between the cities.

Pittsburgh-Nashville flights will complement Southwest’s existing single daily nonstop, providing a diversified schedule for business travelers.

Nashville flights will go on sale beginning Monday, June 26, with Green flight schedules and inventory opening for sale August 1, pending receipt of Department of Transportation approval.

The service will be operated by the company’s Hawker 400XP jet aircraft. Passengers on the routes will enjoy a variety of travel-enhancing benefits, including TSA Pre access for eligible travelers, expedited boarding, complimentary high speed WIFI, and a selection of healthy snacks.

In the release, OneJet CEO, Matthew Maguire, said, “Nashville and Providence were two of our most highly demanded destinations from the Pittsburgh community. In addition to Southwest’s offering in the market, Pittsburgh travelers will now have access to additional schedule options designed to provide easy day trips between Pittsburgh and Nasvhille. We’re equally excited to welcome Providence to the One Jet network, building upon our existing service to Hartford to expand our presence in the Northeast market.”

RIAC President and CEO, Iftikhar Ahmad, said, “We are pleased to have One Jet service offered from Green Airport [PVD] to Pittsburgh, which has long been an important market for our passengers. We welcome One Jet and expect the customer centric amenities they offer will have great appeal to our business travelers.”

OneJet currently provides service to numerous cities from Pittsburgh International Airport, including Albany, Cincinnati, Hartford, Indianapolis, Louisville, Milwaukee, and Richmond. With the addition of Nashville and Providence, the company will offer a total of 36 daily flights to and from the Pittsburgh area.

How much money did we offer onejet to come to Greene? All the other recent additions were given millions.

    Dear Dave,

Once again, you hit the nail on the head.

Warwick taxpayers lost the tax revenue on over 100 homes and saw their taxes increase as a result. Mayor Avedisian gave those properties to the RI Airport Corporation in order to extend the runway and all the taxpayers received in return was air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and soil pollution. That's why I am committed to renegotiating the airport agreement. Now, as you pointed out we have to "bribe" airlines to come here, at additional expense to the taxpayer. That is why I support Camille Vella-Wilkensons legislation to increase the PILOT (payment-in-lieu-of-taxes) from the break-even amount of $500,000 to $1,500,000 which will actually decrease the impact on the Warwick taxpayers and might even lower taxes!

Now Dave, we both know that my critics will say it can't be done. "The airport agreement is a done-deal. It can't be renegotiated!" But we all know that anything can be renegotiated, and Dave, as Mayor, I intend to do just that. In the meantime Vella-Wilkenson showed my critics that she is a whole lot smarter than they are. (me too!) Her legislation is a great "first-step", which when compared to my critics "no-step-whatsoever!" proves that she is a great leader and my critics were WRONG...again.

    WAY-TO-GO-CAMILLE-VELLA-WILKENSON!

    Happy Summer Dave.

    Happy Summer everyone.

    The Taxpayers Mayor
