ORDINANCE NO. 2018-20 IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE 8.08, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005, “ENTITLED FIRE PREVENTION CODE”

(Flammable or Explosive Storage Tanks)

Approved: August 6, 2018 pursuant to Sec. 3.14 of the City Charter

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

SECTION 1: Title 8.08 entitled “Fire Prevention Code” is hereby amended by adding thereto the following new section:

8.08.041 Flammable or Explosive Storage Tanks:

Effective July 1, 2018, no above ground or subsurface stationary storage tank with a capacity of 1000 gallons or more of flammable or explosive material shall be installed within 300 feet of residential property.

This provision shall not apply to replacement of tanks installed prior to July 1, 2018, *unless the tanks have not been in active use for two years.

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
