Paul E. Furtado, 77, died unexpectedly Monday, December 23, 2019. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Ronni (Giblin) Gannek.

Born in Fall River, MA he was a son of the late Elliot P. and Margaret J. (Lake) Furtado. He had resided in Warwick for the past 27 years, formally residing in Portsmouth and New Jersey. Paul was a welder fabricator, he retired from RI Resource Recovery in 2010 and had formally been employed at Baker Tractor, Seekonk. A Vietnam Veteran, he served with the US Navy on the USS Richard E. Kraus. He later obtained his Captain’s License through the US Merchant Marines. Paul had a deep love for life and the sea. He enjoyed boating, deep sea fishing, antique cars, playing pool, watching old westerns and NCIS, playing the guitar, gardening, talking and trading stocks, socializing with his friends, and walking his grand pups. He was a former longtime member at the RI Yacht Club and was an active member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club, the Warwick Lodge of Elks, the American Legion and the Warwick Firefighters Association.

He was the beloved father of Antonia Anthony and her husband Matthew Anthony (WFD), Melissa Alfonso, Michelle Clacherty and Brian Dean; grandfather of Brian Dean, Jr., Alexandria El-Sayed and Anna Rose Legein; great-grandfather of Viola and Zain El-Sayed. He is also survived by his sister Lori Furtado Domingoes and his nephews Cory and Dean Domingoes.

His funeral will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Fair St. Burial will be private. Visiting hours, will be Sunday, December 29th from 4-7 p.m.
