Paul F. “Chip” LaFountain, 64, died suddenly December 18, 2011 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Karen M. (Mayo) LaFountain.

He was a son of the late Amos and Ruth (Suprise) LaFountain and stepson of the late Ruth (Thomas) LaFountain. Paul was employed as a pipefitter and maintenance man for Bostitch for 43 years before retiring. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Co. and a lifelong football and Patriots fan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Jeff LaFountain and Ken LaFountain and his wife, Kim; a sister, Ruthie Northup and her husband, Ray; four grandchildren, Tyler, Connor, Brady and Ava; brothers-in-law Will and Don Mayo; nephews Donnie Mayo, Richard and Ronnie Northup; a cousin, Kathy Dagleish; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late John Mayo.

His funeral service will be held Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. in Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Dec. 21 from 4-8 p.m.
