Paul J. Therrien, 79, of Sheppard Drive, Warwick, died February 3, 2012 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marion J. (Crompton) Therrien for 56 years.
He was a son of the late Oliver and Florence Y. (Picard) Therrien. Mr. Therrien worked for the former United Wire for 26 years, retiring as supervisor. He was a Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War and served on the USS Chambers and USS White Sage. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Wm. Shields Jr. American Legion Post #43 and served as department commander and Sergeant at Arms for the State of Rhode Island.
Paul was the loving father of Katherine J. Gifford, Thomas P. Therrien, Robert R. Therrien, Steven R. Therrien and Elizabeth A. Gordon, and devoted grandfather of Steven, Jessica, Sean, Bonnie, Bethany, Mindy, Taylor, Amy, Jennifer and Heather. He was the brother of Richard Therrien and the late Roland and Joseph Therrien. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. from Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Clement Church, Long St. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Feb. 7 from 4-8 p.m.
