Pearl “Rusty” ( Blackmar) Sarno, 93, a Warwick resident since 1936, died Thursday, March 8,2018 at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund T. " Ed" Sarno.

Born in Providence on March 24, 1924, Rusty was the daughter of the late Fred Wood Blackmar and Nettie B. (Fecteau) Blackmar. She was employed for many years as a cosmetic sales representative for the Ann & Hope Stores and later by Cherry & Webb Co. Retiring in 1990. Rusty was devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Rita Church, she enjoyed flower gardening and cooking, especially during the holidays.

Both Rusty and Ed were very active in political affairs for over 50 years in the city of Warwick and spoke often that her favorite politicians were Mayor Lincoln Chaffee and Mayor Scott Avedisian.

She leaves her devoted sons Fred B. " Ted" Sarno and his wife Lois, Edmund Burke Sarno and Jeffrey Paul Sarno and his wife Claudia all of Warwick. Rusty was the cherished grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of eight.

Her funeral will be held Monday, March 12,2018 at 8:45a.m. from the Urquhart - Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, (Exit 12A off I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in St. Rita Church, 722 Oakland Beach Ave., Warwick. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home, Sunday March, 11,2018 from 4 to 7p.m.
