Photography Show - Call for Art and Exhibit
The Wickford Art Association (WAA) is presenting its annual Photography Show. This popular show celebrates all forms of photography including film, digital, cyanotype and large format.
The open juried show with cash prizes runs from October 20 to November 12, 2017. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Call for Art is on Wednesday October 18, 2017 from 11 AM to 7 PM and Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 11 AM to 3 PM. Show registration is open to WAA members and non-members. Photographers may refer to our website http://www.wickfordart.org for submission guidelines and registration fees.
The Photography Show opening reception is on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at 36 Beach Street, North Kingstown, RI.
The juror is Traer Scott, an award winning fine art and commercial photographer and author of eight photo books including the bestseller Shelter Dogs and Nocturne; Creatures of the Night. Her work is exhibited around the world and has been featured in National Geographic, Life, Vogue, People, O, on the NY Times Lens Blog, Behold and dozens of other national and international print and online publications. Her first solo museum show Natural History was exhibited at the University of Maine Museum of Art in 2015. Traer was the recipient of the 2010 Rhode Island State Council for the Arts Photography Fellowship Grant and the 2008 Helen Woodward Humane Award for animal welfare activism. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island and teaches photography workshops at RISD and other locations around the country.
The Wickford Art Association is a non-profit organization with over 450 members from Rhode Island and New England. The association hosts art shows and classes in its gallery at 36 Beach Street in North Kingstown, and has produced the Wickford Art Festival every July since 1962. Wickford Art Association is dedicated to educating, encouraging and inspiring artists and art lovers throughout the community.
Wickford Art Association hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 - 3:00 PM and Sunday noon to 3:00 PM. Closed Mondays and holidays.
