LARCENY

On July 7 Officer Brian Murray responded to Lavan St. for the report of a stolen truck. The reporting party said that around 10:45 a.m. that day he noticed one of his work trucks missing from the parking lot. He said the truck was last seen at that location around 10:30 p.m. the previous day.

All the information for the truck was taken and the car was entered into the system as stolen. The report was then forwarded to detectives.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

On July 7 at approximately 8:40 a.m. Officer James Vible responded to the Subway on Post Rd. for the repot of property damage. The reporting party showed the Officer a CO2 tank in an alleyway behind the Subway that had been forced from its location on the wall and was lying on its side with spurts of CO2 coming out of it. He said the tank had last been seen in good condition the previous night around 10:00 p.m. and it was found in that state that morning around 7:00 a.m.

There was no danger from the tank and there were no suspects at the time. The case was forwarded to detectives.

SHOPLIFTING

On July 6 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Officer Ryan Shibley responded to the report of shoplifting at the Stop & Shop on Warwick Ave.

The store security employee said that a male, driving a white Toyota, entered the store and got a shopping cart. He then selected two large gift bags and a selection of razors, which he placed inside the gift bags. He also took two Rogaine products and Prilosec products and placed them in the gift bags, according to the security employee.

The suspect then placed a hoodie on top of the gift bags and walked through the florist department, leaving the store without paying for any of the merchandise. The total value of the items, which included Nexium, Prilosec, rogaine, Hydroxycut, and razors, was $842.90.

A copy of the security footage was taken and the report was forwarded to detectives.

On July 7 at approximately 11:43 a.m. Officer Kyle Fitzsimmons responded to the Macy’s at Warwick Mall for the report of a shoplifting that had already occurred.

The loss prevention associate said that the store manager saw a male exit the store the night before with a selection of men’s merchandise, which she estimated to be totally valued at $350. He then exited a white Honda and drove away, though the license plate could not be determined.

Video surveillance confirmed that the man had shoplifted multiple items. The case was forwarded to detectives.

On July 7 at approximately 5:15 p.m. multiple officers responded to the Macy’s at the Warwick Mall, where two female shoplifters were in custody with loss prevention.

The two females were Lela Thomas, 50, of 110 Academy Ave. Apt. 2 in Providence, and Shakeema Browne, 22, of 22 Barbara St. Apt. 2 in Providence. According to the store, the two had tried stealing a selection of clothing and other merchandise totaling $611.99. Browne had tried taking $164.99 worth of merchandise and Thomas had tried taking $447 worth of merchandise. Browne was charged with Shoplifting-Misdemeanor and given a court summons. Thomas was charged with one count of Shoplifting-Felony, one count of Implements of Concealment, and one count of Habitual Defender because of previous shoplifting charges, for which she had a warrant out on her.

STOLEN GOODS

On June 6 at approximately 5:42 p.m. Officer Aaron Steere saw a car on I-95 that had a Washington transport plate on it, and through his training he had been advised that no Washington State transporter plates should be used outside of Washington.

He pulled over the car, which was being driven by Franklin Valenzuela, 23, of 13 Babcock St. Apt. 2 in Providence, who didn’t have a positive ID but his name and address was later confirmed by a DMV license photo.

The Officer detected a strong odor of raw marijuana in the car. He ran checks on the car after obtaining the registration forms, and found that Valenzuela had a lengthy criminal history with charges including Possession with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Firearms, and Delivery of Marijuana.

Other Officers arrived on scene to assist and searches of the driver, the passenger, and the car was conducted. The documents that Valenzuela provided for the vehicle were though to be fraudulent.

During the inventory search, the officers found a seven-gram bag of marijuana and a 2.5-gram bag of marijuana, which were both seized.

Valenzuela was held as a bail violator, due to a 2016 charge of Intent to deliver Schedule I/II. He was charged with one Misdemeanor count of Receiving Stolen Goods as well as Possession of Marijuana with court summons. The car was towed from the scene and the transporter plate would be followed up with Washington State DMV.

The passenger, Kelvin Vilorio, 24, of 359 New Yrok Ave. Apt. 1 in Providence, was charged with possession of marijuana, 1 oz or less.
