CAR LARCENIES
On Oct. 4 at approximately 12:56 p.m. Officer Michael Walker responded to the report of larceny from a vehicle parked at a business on Brownlee Blvd. The victim said that at some point between Sept. 21 and Oct. 4 someone went onto his business property to the back, where he keeps his dump truck, and stole three SR104 batteries, which are valued at approximately $100 apiece. There was no surveillance footage from the property and there were no suspects at the time, but the victim wished to press charges if a suspect was found.

On Sept. 28 at approximately 5:00 a.m. Officer Christopher Cote responded to a residence on South Atlantic Ave. for the report of a car break-in. The victim said that someone had gone through her car overnight and stolen a GPS valued at $100, as well as $10 in change and $30 of cleaning supplies. The victim said she would like to press charges, and the report was forwarded to detectives for follow up.

On Sept. 28 at approximately 7:26 a.m. Officer David Thompson responded to a residence on Adams St. for the report of a larceny from a stolen vehicle. The victim said that sometime overnight her vehicle, which was in her driveway, had been gone through and multiple items were stolen. The items stolen included a $500 pair of prescription eyeglasses and a pair of sunglasses valued at approximately $100. Her glove box and sunglass holder had been opened.
The victim said she usually locks her car but didn’t think she had done so before going inside the night before. There were no witnesses or suspects at the time.

On Sept. 28 at approximately 8:27 a.m. Officer David Thompson responded to Tyler St. for the report of larceny from a vehicle.
The victim said that sometime overnight his vehicle had been rummaged through and three of his credit cards had been stolen, which were later in the day used to pay for gasoline in payments of $15.59, $10.90, and $17.98. The victim said he had left his car unlocked because his key fob was broken. There were no witnesses or suspects for the larceny at the time.

On Sept. 28 at approximately 11:20 a.m. Officer Timothy Lipka met with a larceny victim who came into police headquarters to report a stolen phone.
He said that he was shopping in the Kohl’s Dept. Store at the Rhode Island Mall on Sept. 26 and he had left his Samsung Galaxy Note 8, valued at approximately $1,000, in his shopping cart for a half hour. He believed it had been stolen, as he tried calling it and it had been turned off.
The Kohl’s security said they would review video surveillance but would need a police report to provide the footage.
The victim did not have a serial number for the phone but would try to see if he could get one. He said he wished to press charges if a suspect was found.

On Sept. 28 at approximately 11:58 a.m. Officer David Thompson responded to a residence on Remington St. for the report of larceny from a vehicle.
The victim said that she had left her car unlocked and her purse inside overnight the day before because she was tired and forgot, and when she came out that morning she found that the car had been gone through and her Louis Vuitton purse was gone.
The bag itself was valued at $1,200, and inside it was a $700 Louis Vuitton wallet and a number of credit and debit cards. She said that her bank informed her that the debit card had been used for a $586.36 purchase at a Walmart in North Attleboro. Her credit card had also been used, though one of those purchases had been declined and the other was for $37.04.
The bag had the victim’s initials on it, and she thought it would be highly recognizable if it were to show up in a pawn shop. A written statement was obtained.

LARCENY
On Oct. 1 at approximately 6:37 p.m. Officer William Holz responded to the Kent County YMCA on Centerville Rd. for the report of a stolen wallet.
The victim reported that earlier in the night his wallet, valued at approximately $50 and containing debit and credit cards, had been stolen from a gym locker while he was there. He said that he had left it and when he came back it appeared that all the lockers had been gone through.
The victim said that a number of purchases had been made with the cards, and the credit card companies were currently investigating the misuse of the cards. There was no suspect information at the time.

SHOPLIFTING
On Sept. 28 at approximately 7:41 p.m. Officer Thomas Duncan responded to the Macy’s at Warwick Mall for a shoplifter in custody with store security.
The asset protection employee told the officer that a female, later identified as Griselda Serrano Pareja, 51, of 420 Admiral St. Apt. #1 in Providence, had tried shoplifting a variety of clothing items, which ended up having a total value of #234. She said Pareja had taken the items into a fitting room and concealed them, then left the store without paying.
Pareja was taken into custody by Officer Duncan and transported to police headquarters, where she was charged with one count of Shoplifting – Misdemeanor and released with a court summons.

On Sept. 30 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Officer Charles Austin responded to the Gulf Express on West Shore Rd. for the report of a shoplifting.
The store clerk said that an older female suspect had taken a $3.99 pair of sunglasses off a rack and left the store without paying. The report was forwarded to Detectives for follow up.

On Sept. 26 at approximately 5:18 p.m. multiple officers responded to the report of a shoplifting in progress at the Stop and Shop on Greenwich Ave. Dispatch reported that the loss prevention employee for the store was following two female suspects out onto Greenwich Ave. at the time.
Upon arrival, Officer Maxwell Neiley found other officers already speaking with the two females outside the store.
The two were identified as Naomi Langlais, 41, of 815 Sandy Lane. Apt. #44 in Warwick and Tracy Souza, 32, of 84 Maple St. in East Providence. The two admitted to the officers that they had shoplifted items from the store that day.
The loss prevention employee said that Langlais and Souza had taken several bags of frozen shrimp and crab and exited the floor. He stopped them outside, but they fled on foot and attempted to hid in bushes across the street. They left the bags of shellfish at the bushes and continued running, and the loss prevention employee went back to the store with the merchandise and waited to hear from the police.
The officers had found the two suspects, and the loss prevention employee was able to confirm that they were the ones who stole the food. Souza had tried taking $93.48 worth of food and Langlais had tried taking $134.16 worth of food.
The two females were transported to police headquarters, where it was found that both of them had three prior Shoplifting convictions on their records.
Both Langlais and Souza were charged with Shoplifting – Felony as well as Habitual Offender Shoplifting, and both were transported to the ACI.

On Sept. 24 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Officer Justin Martin responded to the Lowe’s on Greenwich Ave. for the report of a shoplifting that had occurred on Sept. 14.
The loss prevention employee said an unknown female had taken $208.98 worth of merchandise from the store. The items she took were a $139 kitchen faucet and another $69.98 kitchen faucet. The store wished to press charges if the suspect was found, and they provided video surveillance footage of the incident, which was placed into records. The report was forwarded to detectives for follow up.
