SHOPLIFTING
On Dec. 7 at approximately 7:10 p.m., Officer Quentin Tavares was dispatched to JC Penney on Bald Hill Road for the report of a shoplifting, with one adult female in custody.
Upon arrival and meeting with the loss prevention officer, Officer Tavares learned the suspect in question, identified as Amanda Carcieri, 36, of 71 Maple Ave. in Johnston, had already been caught stealing from Macy’s. Carcieri is said to have entered the store via the mall entrance and selected several items of clothing and proceeded to the kids’ fitting room, exiting shortly after without any merchandise visible. She was found to be in possession of $44 in merchandise from JC Penney.
Proceeding to Macy’s, Officer Tavares learned Carcieri had selected three North Face jackets and other clothing before entering the fitting room. She repeated this process multiple times, and was found to be in possession of $163.50 of shoplifted merchandise. Both stores wished to prosecute Carcieri.
She was trespassed from both stores and charged with two counts of misdemeanor shoplifting.

On Dec. 11 at approximately 1:25 p.m., Officer Nicholas Dinardo, Sergeant Robert Palumbo and Officer Brian Murray responded to Warwick Mall for the report of a shoplifting in progress.
Upon arrival and meeting with mall security, the officers learned a subject, identified as Jacqueline McNamee, 28, of 88 Burlingame Lane in Gloucester, was detained in her vehicle. McNamee stated she was shopping with her friend, identified as Jessica Kane, 28,a and that once she learned Kane had shoplifted she “kicked her out of her car” and went back in the mall to speak with security.
Officers were able to locate Kane inside the NYLO Hotel where she was taken into custody. She had shoplifted from the Zumiez store inside the mall, and the items amounted to $169.85. Kane was also determined to have an extraditable affidavit warrant out of North Attleboro, Mass. Kane was charged with one count of misdemeanor shoplifting.

On Dec. 14 at approximately 5:38 p.m., Officer Quentin Tavares was dispatched to JC Penney on Bald Hill Road for the report of a shoplifting with a female suspect in custody.
Upon arrival, Officer Tavares met with the loss prevention officer who stated that at approximately 4:30 p.m. earlier that day the suspect, identified as Hilcia Quezada, 18, of 126 Gladstone St., Apt. 2 in Cranston, had entered the Sephora section of the store and selected makeup and concealed it in her purse. She continued to remove items from their original boxes, concealing them in her purse. She then passed all points of purchase, making no attempt to pay, and was stopped by loss prevention upon exiting the store.
Quezada was found to be in possession of items amounting to $220 and JC Penney wished to prosecute the offense. She was charged with one count of misdemeanor shoplifting and given a District Court summons.
 
INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE
On Dec. 14 at approximately 5:56 p.m., Officer Ali Jaafar was traveling south on Warwick Avenue when he observed a vehicle pass him with dark tint on all four windows. A run of the plates brought back no data, revealing the car had no registration. Officer Jaafar then attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to travel for a mile and a half despite the officer following with his lights on and siren sounding, and even after shining his spotlight on the driver’s head.
The vehicle eventually did stop and Officer Jaafar contacted the driver, identified as Stacey Mitchell, 22, of 220 Logee St., Apt. 1 in Woonsocket. Mitchell said he did not see the officer trying to pull him over. When asked to produce a license, he said he did not have one. Officer Jaafar then learned Mitchell had an outstanding warrant for carrying a pistol without a license, which led Officer Jaafar to place him in cuffs and into the back of his cruiser.
Upon a search of his vehicle, Officer Jaafar found 22 grams of marijuana packed in small individual baggies, a sign of marijuana intended to be distributed. At the time of the report, Mitchell was held as a probation violator and for his bench warrant, he was also charged with the manufacturing, possession, delivery of a schedule I/II substance and operating without a license, third offense.
 
STOLEN CAR
On Dec. 7 at approximately 6:46 p.m., Officer Derek Mourato was dispatched to Motel 6 on Jefferson Boulevard to try to locate a male suspect who was wanted by Connecticut State Police for the larceny of a motor vehicle.
Upon entering the parking lot, Officer Mourato located a vehicle belonging to the suspect, identified as James William Angelico, 42, of 691 Boston Post Road in Old Lyme, Conn. The officers on scene were able to locate the room occupied by Angelico and made contact with him. They were able to confirm his identity and place him into custody without incident.
 
LARCENY
On Dec. 5 at approximately 10:54 a.m., Officer Joseph DeDonato responded to Gaspee Point Drive in reference to a larceny. Upon arrival the officer met with the victim, who stated that at some point between Dec. 1 and Dec. 3 someone removed a metal tree of life display that was just outside his front door. The victim said he felt someone had tried to steal a FedEx package from his property, but when the package was too heavy, they opted to steal the tree instead. The tree was valued at approximately $70 in value. There was no surveillance of the property and there are no suspects or witnesses at this time.

On Dec. 9 at approximately 2:53 p.m., Officer Derek Mourato was dispatched to LA Fitness on Bald Hill Road for the report of two vehicles that were broken into.
Upon arrival to the scene, Officer Mourato learned from the first victim that she found her pickup truck had the passenger side window smashed and that her Coach purse and wallet were taken. Inside was some cash, bank cards, credit cards, her license and insurance card.
The second victim had the back window of her SUV shattered. Her purse was also stolen, which was valued at around $200. However, the purse only contained a small amount of cash. Both victims wished to press charges if a suspect was found, however there was no surveillance of the area available.
 
MALICIOUS DAMAGE
On Dec. 7 at approximately 7:30 a.m., Officer Joseph DeDonato responded to Warwick Avenue in reference to a report of malicious damage to a vehicle. Upon meeting with the victim, the officer learned that the victim observed two of the windows to his motor vehicle being smashed and the interior of the car ransacked. The victim didn’t know if anything had been taken and had no suspects in mind.

On Dec. 9 Officer Evan Johnson and Officer Ryan Lancaster were dispatched to Hayes Street for the report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. The owner of the damaged vehicle indicated that her vehicle had received a 24-inch gash on the lid of the trunk and that the rear tires had been slashed via one-inch punctures. A security camera was in the area but was not operational. With no suspects in mind, the victim did not seek to press charges but wished to file an insurance claim.
