Power of pet therapy

Windwalker, the professional pet assisted therapy founded by Pearl Salotto, held their 8th annual celebration at the Warwick Public Library Saturday with more than 60 people in attendance. A highlight of the event was the 2011 Windwalker awards to Heather Siravo of Elmhurst Extended Care and Joanne Bertone of Cranston Arc. Both were lauded for participating in the program and reinforcing the relationship that can be built between human and animals and the positives that can come from that. The awards were presented by a group of women who had worked with each of the recipients. Here, from left, Alice Freeman and Rene DeMello, who both talked about the award winners join Siravo and her son, Henry, and Bertone as Phyllis Kaczynski talks about the work Siravo has done which includes working with numerous interns.
