Puss In Boots

(Clever cartoon feature for all ages)

Remember Puss in Boots from the Shrek movies? He's back, and he is better than ever.

Antonio Banderas is the voice of this clever, conniving cat, joined in his quest to steal the magic beans from Jack and Jill, plant them, climb the beanstalk, and steal the golden eggs from the giant in the sky.

Sound familiar? It is, right from the fairy tale, “Jack and the Beanstalk,” with lots of poetic license.

This is one of those rare movies that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. You don't even have to find a kid to bring with you.

We usually don't pay attention to the voices in cartoons, but you can't mistake that of Banderas. His sexy Spanish accent purr-fectly fits the clever cat, as does Selma Hayek's as Kitty Soft-Paws.

The movie opens with Puss running from the law, a wanted cat who meets up with his boyhood pal, Humpty Dumpty (voice of Zach Galifianakis). A flashback tells of their happier days, leading up to an event that made them enemies.

They team up once again to steal the magic beans from Jack and Jill, two frightening, ugly creatures, quite unlike the ones we picture going up the hill to fetch a pail of water.

The kids will enjoy the many chases and narrow escapes, while the adults will love the characters and the satire. It's all about friendship and second chances and doing the right thing, messages that should be obvious enough for the kids to get.

Rated PG, with little to worry about for the young ones.
