Puttin’ on the shine
Custodians, teachers, school administrators and even students geared up for the opening of school next Wednesday. A visit Tuesday to Norwood School found “Mr. Mike” Pappagallo, who said he couldn’t have done it without the help of Sandy Bradford, polishing the floors; Principal Nancy Plumb and secretary Jean Hough going over class schedules; sixth grade teacher Deidre Pesola preparing her room; and Ashley Seel and Kailey Giarrusso, who will be attending Aldrich this year, volunteering their help. “We just like to help out and because we miss her [Pesola],” Kailey said when asked what prompted her to assist. Pesola said she has worked to make the room “an environment that challenges students to think at a high level.” The goal, she said, is for students to “evaluate information,” not just come up with the correct answer through rote learning.
