Retirement Board to take part in RILCT fiduciary seminar
Members of the city’s Municipal Retirement Board will take part in a June 11 fiduciary training seminar sponsored by the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns.
The seminar, geared specifically for trustees and members of municipal pension boards, will be led by Frederick P. McClure, Esq., and will cover a variety of topics, including fiduciary and legal obligations, open records and disclosure, conflicts of interest and trustee liability.
The event is the type of board development seminar that Al Marciano, elected chairman in March, said he hopes the board would attend on an ongoing basis as they look to the board’s future direction and responsibility.
Current board members are: Lawrence Anthony, Jean Bouchard, Frank Frenze, Councilman Raymond Gallucci, Alfred Marciano, Jeanne Muto-Kyle, Jack O'Donnell, William DePasquale, Oscar Shelton, Ernest Zmyslinski and Scott Lajoie.
The board, established by city ordinance, is comprised of the director of finance (ex officio), personnel director (ex officio), chairperson of the City Council finance committee (ex officio), president of the municipal employees bargaining unit (ex officio), a current employee who is a municipal union member, a retiree, an employee not in the municipal employees’ union, and four members of the general public who are not officers or employees of the city.
