‘Rhythm in the Night: The Irish Dance Spectacular’ coming to Park Theatre

Though St. Patrick’s Day may be March 17, the Irish celebration will continue on Saturday, March 29 when the historic Park Theatre in Cranston hosts a performance by renowned Rhythm in the Night: The Irish Dance Spectacular. As a special treat for groups of students from area dance schools, the group’s cast will offer a free dance workshop prior to their performance.

Featuring some of the most dynamic and accomplished Irish dancers from across the globe, Rhythm in the Night is a performance the entire family will enjoy. With cast members who have toured with some of the world’s most successful dance and musical acts, the group turns an age-old art form into the most exciting Irish dance spectacular ever to be experienced.

Under the direction of Two Step Productions, Rhythm in the Night is led by the former lead dancer of Michael Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance,” Justin Boros. A professional Irish dancer who toured across the United States and Europe with Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance” for more than two years, Boros developed Rhythm in the Night while traveling with various European-based Irish dance productions throughout Ireland and Germany. After years of successful touring, Justin opened several Irish dance schools in the U.S., where he instructs novice to champion-level Irish dancers. Justin’s unique physical build at 6’4” and 290 lbs. has allowed him to perform lead villain roles never before seen in dance productions.

Assuming the role of Rhythm in the Night’s principal dancer Solas, as well as a primary chorus dancer, is professional Irish dancer and musician Gregg Senko. Throughout his decorated career, Senko has worked on countless Irish dance productions, including “Riverdance” and “Lord of the Dance” while instructing and performing internationally.

Music for Rhythm in the Night is the work of twin composers Andrew and Jared DePolo. The Ohio natives, whose broad body of work includes original scores for national advertising campaigns, an award-winning documentary and their own critically acclaimed contemporary orchestral album, began their work on Rhythm in the Night in 2011. Setting out to create a completely new and unique sound for Irish dance, the brothers succeeded in marrying the thunderous rhythms of Irish dance hard shoes in symphony with a full-body orchestral sound that sets the stage for a performance never before seen or heard.

Prior to their performance, Rhythm in the Night cast members will host a free dance workshop at the Park Theatre for groups of students from local dance schools. If you are a dance school interested in learning more or would like to sign-up a group of students to participate, please call the Park Theatre directly.

Rhythm in the Night: The Irish Dance Spectacular will take the state of the Park Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on March 29. Tickets are $25, $35 and $45 and available by calling the Box Office at 467-7275 or online at www.ParkTheatreRI.com. Special ticket discounts are available for dance troupes and schools. The Park Theatre is located at 848 Park Avenue, Cranston. Free parking is available for all shows.
