The Rhode Island Hockey Hall of Fame and the Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society have jointly announced the postponement of their annual enshrinement and reunion events for 2020 due to the social distancing and health concerns brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
“It is with great regret but with an abundance of caution and concern that this well considered decision has been made,” Hall of Fame chairman Vincent Cimini said. “Erring on the side of caution, we are now planning to combine our Class of 2020 inductions with those of our Class of 2021 next year.”
It has already been rescheduled for next year – Friday, Aug. 27, at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln.
The class of 2020 inductees-elect are Tim Army, David Capuano, Lou Cimini, Jack Ferreira, Jim Fullerton, Paul Guay and Garth Snow. Buster Clegg, selectee for the Hall’s 2020 Malcolm Greene Chace Award for contributions to hockey, will also be honored.
At the same time, the Reds Heritage Society has announced the postponement of its 20th Annual Reunion Weekend, also previously scheduled for late August. The announcement was made by society president Andre Mayer. That three-day reunion celebration will take place next year, Aug. 26-28, also at Twin River.
Those who have already purchased tickets can expect a full refund within the next few weeks.
