RI Youth Theatre to hold auditions for 'Seussical' the musical


Rhode Island Youth Theatre is looking for performers ages 7 to 15 for their upcoming production of “Seussical the Musical, Jr.,” a musical play based on the stories and characters of Dr. Seuss.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at imPossible Dream on Centreville Road in Warwick. Students interested in performing must pre-register. All registered students will be cast in the show.

Rehearsals will take place February school vacation week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at imPossible Dream, with performances on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Cranston.

The show will be directed and choreographed by industry professional Kim Kalunian and musically directed by Broadway veteran Nancy Hillner.

“The audience will meet all of Dr. Seuss’s most beloved characters, including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, and Mayzie La Bird,” said RIYT founder and director Dr. Ann O’Grady. “This one-hour musical production appeals to children of all ages with its timeless messages of helping a friend, never giving up and keeping a promise.”
