The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) recently announced the arrivals of Linda Hughes, Vice President of Marketing, Air Service and Media Relations, and Christine Vitt, Senior Vice President and Chief Infrastructure Officer. RIAC also announced two promotions. Eric Seabury is being promoted to Assistant Vice President of Engineering and Tim Pimental is being promoted to Vice President of Customer Service.

“We are excited to make these staffing announcements," said Iftikhar Ahmad, President & CEO of RIAC. "All four of these individuals bring talent, expertise, and positive energy to the table. We are very fortunate to have them as part of our team as we continue to position the airport as a strong economic driver in our community.”

Christine Vitt joins the Rhode Island Airport Corporation team as Senior Vice President and Chief Infrastructure Officer. She is the former Vice President of Strategic Planning and Sustainability for The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA), which operates the Nashville International Airport. She led her team in many functions including strategy, planning, and environmental sustainability. She won “Most Innovative” for Nashville Business Journal’s Employee of the Year Awards. In her new role at RIAC, Christine will be overseeing planning, development/engineering, and environmental initiatives.

Linda Hughes will serve as Vice President of Marketing, Air Service & Media Relations. Linda comes to RIAC with eighteen years of aviation experience. Her recent position was that of Air Service and Marketing Manager for the Dayton International Airport where she managed external and internal communications on behalf of the City of Dayton. In her new role at PVD, Ms. Hughes will be the main contact for Marketing and Media Relations and will work diligently with Iftikhar Ahmad in the development of Air Service.

Timothy Pimental has worked at RIAC at T.F. Green Airport for the past 21 years. Over the years, he has held positions in Operations, Public Affairs, Marketing, and Air Service Development. His vast experience and knowledge of the airport will make him a valuable asset to his new position. In his role as Vice President of Customer Service, he will focus on delivering a comfortable, friendly, and efficient airport atmosphere with the services and amenities air travelers expect when they take to the skies.

Eric Seabury has worked at RIAC for over 11 years and has managed major construction projects at all six of Rhode Island’s state operated airports. The most notable accomplishment was a $9 million transformation of the Federal Inspection Services facility at T.F. Green to allow for regularly scheduled international air service. As assistant vice president of engineering, he will provide management oversight of engineering and environmental activities for RIAC. Mr. Seabury has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and has over 22 years of experience in the industry.

I am a very proud member of Friends Of Warwick Ponds (FOWP). Two years ago we met wit Kelly Fredricks of the RIAC to discuss the drainage of their de-icing fluids into Warwick Pond. My personal opinion is that it didn't go well. Recently we met several times with Eric Seabury in our monthly meetings as well as on-site at the airport, and, in my opinion, the attitude of everyone at the RIAC has improved greatly. (I credit him for a lot of that). Two years ago I kayaked over to the drain that feeds directly from the airport into Warwick Pond and when I got about 20 feet from it my eyes burned. My nose clogged up and I had difficulty breathing. Not good signs. This Spring/Summer members of FOWP and I took a tour of the Airport; saw the new drain catch basin and I actually sat on top of the drain feeding into Warwick Pond. The water was clear and clean, in my opinion. I reached down and tasted it and there was no chemical smell or taste. I am NOT a chemical engineer but I know good water vs. bad and this, to me, is vastly improved. As a result, Warwick Pond has gone from brownish red in color to much blue-er and cleaner in appearance. This, to me, is great progress but we have more issues to handle. The phragmites weed is growing out of control. Much work is needed to make the entrance and exit waterways clear. I believe that, with the efforts of the FOWP, The Airport has become a better neighbor and with more communication on both sides, they might even become a great neighbor. Time will tell and I will remain a proud member of that team to help in the mission.

    Happy Summer everyone.

I have to credit you, Justanidiot, with getting the mayer to actually not declare his [imaginary] ability to "renegotiate the airport contract." It would be nice to think it's because he finally realized that the failed bills at the State House were not meant to do anything of the kind -- but in reality, it's because his pathetic need for self-congratulation outweighed his pathetic need to repeat false statements.
