RIKB Seminar Series: Remodel Your Space to “Age in Place”

Posted by hulafish

Join experts from Rhode Island Kitchen & Bath, HomeHealth Smith and The Grand Islander to learn how to modify your home to “age in place”? This trend is an alternative to downsizing or moving to a condo and allows you to stay in your home and stay independent. Our experts will teach you how to tastefully and easily make your surroundings easier to manage and safer as you grow older.

From replacing bathtubs, installing safety rails, or widening doors – our Director of Design, Prudence Stoddard, CKD, CAPS, UDCP will discuss the principles and importance of Universal Design, while showcasing specific products and appliances that are being used today. In additon, Linda Bohmbach, ECHMP, Co-Founder and Vice President of Home HealthSmith will join us to review various types of accessibility equipment available for your living room and/or bedroom including ceiling lifts and various types of transfer aids for those with limited mobility. Hannah Allain COTA/L Director of The Rehabilitation Program at Grand Islander will discuss tasks that can put you at risk for falls, tips to overcome and modifcations that can help your balance. Pre-registration is required, space limited.

This event is complimentary, however we will be accepting donations for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
