Robert (Bert) Moore
Robert (Bert) Moore, 62, former resident of East Greenwich, died July 8th, at his home in Hickory North Carolina.
Robert was born December 3rd, 1949 in Natick, Mass. to the late Jane Kruger (Warwick, RI) and Earl Moore (Wynnewood, Pennsylvania). Bert grew up in Warwick/East Greenwich graduating from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 2 in East Greenwich, attaining the rank of Life Scout. He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and worked locally for a graphics designer in North Kingston before moving to Pittsburgh where he raised a family. Bert was a 25+ year veteran of the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) industry and was a well respected and recognized expert on the subject. He was also the director of IDAT Consulting & Education and served under contract as director of technical communications and media relations for the industry organization Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM). He wrote and edited for AIM's "RFID Connections" and "AIM Connections" newsletters. Bert was a 1992 recipient of the AIM USA "Industry Service Award", and was selected as a charter member of the AIDC 100 organization in 1997. He was also the 2010 recipient of the AIM "Excellence in Journalism” award.
He is survived by his step-mother, Catherine Moore of Wynnewood, Penn.; two daughters, Caitlin of Boston, Mass. and Sharon of Boone, NC; and a brother Steve of Littleton, Mass.
