Rocky Hill School Sponsors E-Waste Recycling Day

Rocky Hill School will host an E-Waste Recycling Day fundraising event Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the rear parking lot off Chinook Road in Potowomut.

The event is free and open to the public to bring for collection the following items: televisions, monitors, CPU boxes, refrigerators, microwaves, air conditioners and miscellaneous electronics and appliances. In accordance with state and federal law, all computer hard drives will be wiped or shredded. No tires, mercury, gas tanks, stand-alone batteries or ballast will be taken at the time of collection.

Office Recycling Solutions of West Warwick and South Kingstown, which routinely provides this service for a wide variety of schools and other non-profits, will collect, remove and properly recycle materials. Proceeds from the re-use and re-selling will benefit Rocky Hill, and reduce the amount of e-waste that reaches the waste stream.
