Roger A. Handy, 90, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lois H. (Hays) Handy for 63 years.

Born New Bedford, MA, a son of the late Grafton and Sarah (Wright) Handy, he had been a resident of Buttonwoods for the past 56 years. Mr. Handy was a graduate of East Providence High School and Edgewood Junior College with a business degree. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was employed at Standard Oil for years and was owner and administrator of the Buttonwoods Crest Nursing Home for 29 years. Mr. Handy was an owner and partner of Harbourside Lobstermania in East Greenwich and sponsored Warwick Babe Ruth Baseball, Warwick Junior Hockey and Adult Volleyball for many years.

Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters: Peggy Beauchene of Warwick, Linda Williams and Kevin Conley of North Kingstown, Cynthia Johnson and husband, Dave of Coventry; son, Steven Handy and wife, Monica of North Kingstown; one brother George Handy of Florida; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Grafton and Frank Handy.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. with a service to follow at 7 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
