Rough third quarter dooms Pilgrim against Coventry

The Pilgrim football team took a break from league play but didn’t get a break from tough competition as Division II-A contender Coventry came to town on Saturday morning for a non-league game. Pilgrim hung tough and trailed only 14-0 at halftime, but the Oakers pulled away with a 21-point third quarter to win 41-14. Pilgrim got on the board with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Rob Quaine had a 1-yard run for one, and Mike Turchetta added a 15-yard touchdown run. Stryker Blue and Jose Santos had two touchdowns apiece for Coventry.
