Russell O. Wilcox


Russell O. Wilcox, 90, of Pleasant Street, died on March 19, 2013 at Brentwood Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. Wilcox.

Born in Warwick, a son of the late Ernest C. and Mary E. (Hutchinson) Wilcox. He lived in Warwick all his life. He was a Shellfisherman, a rigger at Electric Boat (Groton) and a letter carrier in Warwick. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of King Solomon F & AM, Wm. Shields Jr. Post 43 and the Phenix Sportsmans Club.

He is survived by two sons, Russell O. Wilcox, Jr. and Wayne D. Wilcox (Janet) of Warwick, a step-daughter, Pamela Richardson, step-sons, Walter Donovan and Thomas Donovan. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of infant daughters, the late Rosalind M. and Joan M. Wilcox; brother of the late Donald E. Wilcox and the late Marian Conn and step-father of the late Lawrence Donovan and Dawn Tranbarger.

Relatives and friends were invited to visitation on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. in The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick. Burial will take place in Brayton Cemetery, Post Road,Warwick on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
