Janice Bell recently celebrated her 100th birthday at the Scandinavian Communities Assisted Living on Oct. 18. Bell was born in New Jersey and her family moved to Connecticut when she was young. Janice was an artist who painted in watercolors. She participated in art shows and had a one-man show in New York City. Immediately after graduating high school, a local private school hired her to teach art to deaf children. Janice eventually went back to school and got her Master’s in art education. She also enjoyed theater and started dating her husband after they were in cast in a play together. They had two daughters, and now Bell has five grandchildren. After her husband passed away, Janice got a role-playing position at Mystic Seaport. Janet recently moved to Rhode Island to be closer to her daughters. (Submitted photo)
