Wet weather didn’t severely dampen the turnout for the third annual Warwick Firefighters IAFF Local 2748 5K run and 1K walk Saturday at Goddard Park. More than 230 people turned out for the event that started at the carousel and took participants through the park.

The $8,500 raised by the run/walk benefits Westbay Community Action. Event organizer, Lt. George Lusignan thanked the many volunteers who made the occasion possible, noting that with each year the number of participants and the funds raised increases. A post-race party with live music by Lt. John Halloran and Those Guys was hosted at The Trap by the Martucci Restaurant Group. Martucci’s along with HarborOne Bank and South County Dermatology were major sponsors.

Lusignan also thanked his committee that included: Retired Battalion Chief Robert Parmenter, Retired Battalion Chief Tom Jessop, Retired Lt. James Campbell, LT Michael Boynton Sr., Rescue Lt Andrew Sutton, Rescue Lt Michael Carriero, FF Ethan Andrews, FF Steve Champagne, FF Keith Hankins, FF Michael Boynton Jr. and FF Jenny Velan.
